Not all professional athletes are amazing role models like Kevin Durant.

In fact, some are downright abusive criminals that continue to make loads of cash.

So when the story of NFL star Michael Sam caused outraged, many of us couldn’t help but scratch our heads.

Images of Sam – the first openly gay NFL player – lovingly kiss his boyfriend, Vito Cammisano, reached saturation point on news feeds such as ESPN and Twitter. The occasion? Sam was being picked up by the St. Louis Rams in the 7th round of the NFL Draft.

The 24-year-old defensive end buckled over in tears after he got the call from the Rams. He then gave his boyfriend a quick kiss before embracing him.

Here is the tear-filled and joyous moment between the couple…

While this may seem like a wonderful moment to many, there were plenty of people who weren’t so pleased about the PDA.

In fact, many parents on various blogs and social media outlets have asked, ‘How do I explain this to my kids?’

Explain what, one might ask?

As it turns out, many people feel it is highly offensive to see a kiss between a same-sex couple on daytime television.

Unfortunately, we still live in a world where a loving exchange between two people is more offensive than violence on everyday TV and oppressive images of women in popular music videos. Seeing images of war on daily news is acceptable, but the moment a man kisses a man, people speak up. Spanking females in slave-like fashion in the latest rap video is fine, but same-sex love causes feverish headlines.

So in response to this madness and the ‘How do I explain this to my kids?’ question, Heckbender has nailed it! Check out their hilarious – and enlightening – video on this very subject.

And can we just chill, people? Love is love. If it makes you feel uncomfortable to see two men kissing, maybe you need to explore your bias and open your mind a little.
