Do You Make New Year’s Resolutions?

With 2015 coming to a close, many of us are starting to think about New Year’s resolutions.

“Lose weight” is one of the top resolutions every year. Not to mention, cut down on the toxic habits such as cigarettes and too much alcohol.

In a recent study, here are the top 10 promises we make to ourselves at the beginning of every new year:

  • 1. Lose weight, stay in shape
  • 2. Get organized
  • 3. Spend less, save more
  • 4. Quit smoking
  • 5. Quit/cut down drinking
  • 6. Manage stress & health levels
  • 7. Learn new skill/hobby
  • 8. Help others, pay it forward
  • 9. Fall in love
  • 10. Spend more time with family

Can you relate? Are you also hoping to work off the holiday bulge? Or do you want to manage your stress and health levels in 2016?

For me, I want less screen time and more family time! I barely watch any TV, but I’m a full-fledged iPhone junkie. Not to mention, I am a blogger, so I spend an average of 5 hours in front of the computer every day.

Oh, and cutting down on the vino probably wouldn’t hurt!

I shudder to think that my kids will remember me as: “The woman in a robe who drinks copious amounts of coffee in front of a laptop.” Or worse, “The woman always cutting a mean rug to those Bon Jovi tunes with wine in hand.”

While most New Year’s resolutions become empty promises to ourselves, I think it is a great idea to reflect on the past year, learn from our mistakes, and strive to move forward with an open heart and evolved mind.
