Did you hear about the dad who killed his daughter’s rapist and won’t face charges?
Many of us have wondered what we are capable of doing if pushed too far, and a 23-year-old Texas man was faced with the worst of scenerios when he found a family acquaintance raping his 5-year-old daughter behind a barn at a family barbecue.
The father pulled the 47-year-old man off his screaming daughter, then beat him to death.
When he realized the extent of the injuries, the panicked father called 911, saying, “Come on! This guy is going to die on me! I don’t know what to do.”
After the girl was taken to the hospital and forensic evidence indicated she’d been sexually abused, all statements from the father were deemed as truthful.
The Associated Press reports:
“In declining to indict the 23-year-old father in the June 9 killing of Jesus Mora Flores, a Lavaca County grand jury reached the same conclusion as investigators and many of the father’s neighbors: he was authorized to use deadly force to protect his daughter.”
“It’s sad a man had to die,” said Michael James Veit, 48, who lives across the street from where the attack happened. “But I think anybody would have done that.”
In such a horrific and traumatic moment, one can understand why the father reacted the way he did.
Regardless, there are no winners in this situation. A father killed someone, and a 5-year-old girl will live with the the trauma of being sexual abused and witnessing a death.
What are your thoughts on this tragic tale? Do you think you would react the same way?
Do you think the father should serve time for the murder of his daughter’s rapist?
