What’s a necessity that every new mom needs?  A trusty, yet stylish, diaper bag.  Yes, there are plain Jane diaper bags out on the market, and then there are modern chic diaper bags.  Which would you prefer?

2RedHensThe 2 Red Hens Studio collection, designed by ‘Mama Hen’ Lori Holliday, has hit the mark when it comes to combining function and fashion in not only the diaper bag category, but many other areas as well.

As a mom to a one-year old, I still pack around a lot of ‘stuff’ for my babe when I leave the house.  Fortunately, I have been able to use 2 Red Hens Studio’s Limited Edition Tote Bag and the Coop Carry-All Diaper Bag to transport my baby essentials with me.

red_damask_largeSince I often spend my days in workout pants and t-shirts, I tend to use the Red Damask Limited Edition Tote Bag more when I am dressed up and headed to places that are cleaner per se.  Reason being is that the Limited Edition tote bag feels more like a high-end fashion accessory to me because it’s made from reclaimed leather and superfine silk all lovingly handmade.  Wearing the bag over my shoulder when I am out makes me feel like I just got a makeover.

When I open the Limited Edition Tote Bag, there is a lovely white with red dot pattern throughout which makes me feel joyful and plus the ability to see everything at the bottom of the bag is a bonus.  The tote bag has a spacious removable insert that holds all the diapers, bottles, wipes, change mat, etc.  The pull-out piece makes it easy to change diapers on the fly and yet by removing the insert, the bag is transformed into a stylish overnight bag.

If my darling daughter and I are out using her stroller, I make sure that I don’t over pack the Tote Bag because the straps don’t fit very well around my stroller handle.  I able to hook one of the straps around the handlebars while the other strap hangs free.  Luckily, the Tote Bag has a zipper enclosure and the 2 Red Hens signature red button with an elastic to ensure that our belongings don’t fall out of the bag if it topples over.

On more casual outings, I will often take out the Peacock Mum Coop Carry-All Diaper Bag. The bag is still stylish, however, it has a water-resistant shell so it’s easy to clean. The bag comes with six interior pockets and two exterior pockets including a thin diaper change pad.  I find that the Coop Carry-All Bag feels a tad roomier than the Limited Edition Tote Bag – don’t get me wrong though, both bags allow me to stuff more than I need in them.

The Coop Carry-All Bag also has the white interior with red polka dots which I love.  There is a zippered pocket along the outside of the bag as well as one on the inside for those valuable items that need special attention.

The straps on the Coop Carry-All Diaper Bag are convertible meaning they fit nicely over your shoulder as well as on a stroller.  The straps attach with metal clasps so they clip around my stroller handle with no problem – perfect for those days where I want to be hands/shoulders-free.

2 Red Hens Studio has done a superb job taking the fabulous designs by Lori Holliday - who is currently featured on the Autumn 2013 cover of Where Women Create magazine - and making them into unique creations that are bound to take the baby industry by storm.  I look forward to seeing more creations from them in the future.
