Tired of continually shopping for different strollers? Need a stroller that can grow with you as your family grows?
If you’re looking for a high-quality stroller that can be used as a single stroller and eventually convert to a double as your family expands, look no further – check out the City Select by Baby Jogger.
For my first babe, I had a good quality single stroller that was doing the job for the family. But that quickly changed when I found out I was pregnant with baby #2 when my first was only six months old. Knowing that I would have two children very close in age, a double stroller was definitely needed.
Having seen a number of moms pushing their loved ones around the mall in their City Select strollers – some as a single stroller and some as a double, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. And boy, am I glad that I did.
After receiving the City Select, the fun began. The stroller was reasonably simple to put together – that’s what husbands are for, right? We then played around with a few different seating options with the original seat and then opened up our Second Seat Kit (sold separately.) A cool feature of the City Select is that there are 16 unique seating arrangements that can be used when you need a double stroller. It’s nice to know that there are so many ways that we can seat our kids as they grow…if they are playing together nicely, they can face one another – and if not, they can sit back-to-back!
The seat, with a 5-point harness, seems really comfortable for my daughter. I like that it has an adjustable foot-well that supports her legs while she’s small and can be lowered as she grows. The canopy is a great size providing full sun coverage and also has a peek-a-boo window.
I took my 16-month old daughter out on a number of walks on her own using the City Select as a single. This stroller is the smoothest rolling buggy that I have used to date. The turning ratio is impeccable and the tires have some tread that can help glide along snowy paths. I like that it has a hand-brake rather than the foot brake, especially in the wintertime when my footwear may be a bit wet.
When I converted the stroller to a double and pushed both my daughters, the maneuverability was altered slightly because of the additional weight but it was still a smooth ride.
Since I have a newborn baby, I also have the Car Seat Adaptors that snap into the stroller brackets. When we put the infant car seat into the adaptors, it is so simple that if I didn’t know any better I would think that the stroller was made by the same company as the infant car seat.
If you tend to pack around a lot of baby supplies, then here’s another reason to love this stroller. The storage basket on the City Select is ginormous! It’s the largest stroller storage area that I have seen. When using the City Select as a single, the access to the storage area is easy to get to. And depending on which way you have the seating arrangement with the double option, it’s still quite accessible even if there are little feet dangling down.
Being a taller mom (5’9”) and the fact that my husband is six feet tall, we appreciate that the City Select has a telescopic handle bar and can be adjusted to ergonomically fit our bodies as we push our little ones. The handle has a wipe clean grip so your hands shouldn’t slide unexpectedly.
I do wish that the stroller came with a drink/cup holder, but that can be purchased separately.
The City Select stroller is one of the pricier strollers on the market and when you add on the cost of the Second Seat Kit and car seat adaptors, the bill can get a lot higher than many consumers would like. But after using the City Select and comparing it to many other strollers that I have used, it’s worth every penny.
Overall, I would give the Baby Jogger City Select stroller, Second Seat Kit and the Car Seat Adaptor 5-stars and would recommend it to any expecting parents or those looking for a great quality stroller for their growing family.
